Slate created a new series around celebrity culture news and wanted to create a look for the series to distinguish it as such.
I used the Slate branding – a tear, cut off words and our Slate color pallet, to create a bright, fun, torn gossip magazine collage look with hints of halftone.

I had a few of the first paragraphs to work from for this piece and what came to mind was the idea of home and books and feeling trapped and free. The first line of the piece stuck with me as something immediately visual, “I grew up, as people say, in a house of books.”
